 Abby Spitler

What is your role at ARC Physical Therapy+?

I am a Physical Therapist Assistant in Topeka.

What year did you begin working at ARC Physical Therapy+?

I was a student with ARC in 2023 and started working with the company in 2024.

Where are you from?

I am from Hutchinson, KS.

Where did you go to school?

I graduated from Hutchinson Community College from their PTA program.

Who or what inspired you to get into physical therapy?

In April of 2021, my brother-in-law had a severe stroke.  I watched him go from the ICU to inpatient therapy at Madonna Rehab in Nebraska, and then to outpatient therapy where he worked hard every day to get back to his normal life. I was able to attend some of his therapy sessions and seeing how much of a difference his care team and therapists made stuck with me. That’s when I knew I wanted to be a part of something like that: helping people get back to doing what they love.

What do you like most about your work at ARC Physical Therapy+?

What I enjoy most is being able to help people get back to work and back to their normal routines in a timely manner. It’s rewarding to see that progress and know we’re making a real difference. On top of that, I really appreciate my teammates and patients — they make each day fun and keep the job exciting.

In my free time, I love taking my dog, Maggie, on walks or to the dog park. I also enjoy spending quality time with my family—especially my niece and nephews—and catching up with friends.

What patients/diagnoses are you most excited about treating?

I really enjoy working with patients who are in the higher-level or return-to-sport phase of recovery. It’s exciting to incorporate plyometrics, running, jumping, cutting, and other advanced movements. There are endless exercises and drills that not only challenge the patient but also keep me engaged as a clinician.

Can you share a patient success story?

I don’t have one specific patient success story that stands out, but what I really enjoy is seeing patients thrive overall—whether that’s getting back to their daily routines, returning to work, or resuming the activities they love. It’s especially rewarding when patients come back on their own, outside of a work comp injury, because it shows the trust we’ve built and the impact of the care we provided.

What inspires you?

I find inspiration in my patients’ progress, the supportive team I work with, and the constant growth within the PT field. Seeing new research and techniques emerge motivates me to keep learning and improving.
