How Laser Therapy Helped Relieve My Plantar Fasciitis Pain — A Patient Story

Plantar fasciitis pain can be debilitating, making everyday activities like walking, standing, or even getting out of bed difficult. One of our patients recently shared her experience with Class IV laser therapy at our Overland Park clinic, highlighting the dramatic relief she experienced.

“Thank you for suggesting the laser therapy to treat my plantar fasciitis!  When I first saw you I was limping, in excruciating discomfort, and did not see how I could get through any of my daily activities.  My pain level was at an 8 out of 10.  After my first treatment I got substantial relief.  I continued to ice and stretch it between my sessions.  After my remaining laser therapy treatments, I gradually began to improve more each time.  As an older woman, my healing time has regretfully slowed. There is no doubt that the laser therapy decreased my inflammation and alleviated my pain. Please know that if I experience a flare-up I will be back for more laser therapy.  It works!”

What Is Plantar Fasciitis?

Plantar fasciitis occurs when the thick band of tissue (the plantar fascia) that connects the heel bone to the toes becomes inflamed.

Common symptoms include:

  • Sharp heel pain, especially first thing in the morning

  • Pain that worsens after standing or walking for long periods

  • Difficulty walking or completing daily activities

It’s one of the most common causes of heel pain in adults, and for many, the discomfort can significantly impact quality of life.

Why Laser Therapy?

Many patients try rest, stretching, or icing, but these approaches alone don’t always provide enough relief. Class IV laser therapy is an effective, non-invasive treatment option that works by:

  • Increasing cellular metabolism

  • Improving circulation to injured tissue

  • Providing pain relief
