What Is Laser Therapy?

Laser therapy uses a high powered laser to deliver light deep into tissues to stimulate a process called photobio-modulation. As light interacts with the cells, it leads to an increase in cellular metabolism, improved circulation to injured tissue, and pain relief.

Who Is a Good Candidate for Class IV Laser Therapy?

Patients experiencing the following are good candidates for laser therapy:

  • Sprains and strains

  • Tendonitis

  • Neck and back pain

  • TMJ disorders

  • Plantar fasciitis

  • Post-surgical patients

If you’re dealing with discomfort or an injury that hasn’t responded to other treatments, laser therapy may be a good option.

What Does It Feel Like?

Laser therapy treatments must be administered directly to skin, as clothing or topical dressings interfere with delivering light to tissues beneath the skin. Patients will feel a soothing, comfortable warmth as the therapy is administered.

How Many Treatments Do You Need?

Patients generally see results after 3 to 5 treatments. Your therapist will develop a specific plans of care based on the diagnosis and the tissues that are involved.
