What is your name?
Samantha Morrison
What is your role at ARC Physical Therapy+?
Director of the Topeka Clinic, physical therapist
Where are you from?
I grew up in the country on a ranch in south central Kansas. The town where I went to school for K-12 has no stop lights and no fast food. I graduated with 18 students, and yes, I could tell you their full name, their birthday, and all of their siblings. My favorite part of growing up in a small town was the community, everyone supported you and wanted you to do well.
Where did you go to school?
I completed my undergrad at Tabor College where I threw Javelin and built friendships to last a lifetime. I completed my Doctorate in Physical Therapy at University of Saint Mary in Leavenworth.
What skills helped you move into a leadership role?
Attention to detail, drive to succeed, and motivation to better those around me.
How do you help your team live up to our mission of redefining excellence in healthcare?
My favorite part of my job is staff development and building relationships. I encourage my staff to look for new ways to be challenged, learn a new skill, master a previous skill, be curious, be eager to learn; when an individual reaches their max potential they will naturally redefine excellence within their clinic and community.
What is your leadership philosophy?
Lead by example. Be the therapist, co-worker, and friend every day that you want your staff to be.
What you want everyone at ARCPT+ to know?
As therapist and support staff, we are an extension of God’s hand. We have been placed in our role, in this calling, to help others around us. We are not defined by our success, patient outcomes, or reviews but instead we are defined by how we relate to and treat others with care, compassion, and effort. We are piece of a puzzle in the healing process of those we treat.
What do you do to help your team have fun?
We keep the clinic atmosphere lighthearted, energized, and open. We have a daily Wordle thread and challenge between staff, questions/riddles for patients to engage in, and we try to do a little extra staff time quarterly to get to know each other.
