What is your name?
Lisa Rohrbaugh
What is your role at ARC Physical Therapy+?
Clinic Director, Lenexa
Where are you from?
I was born in Washington D.C. We moved around a lot as I was growing up, but I spent most of my childhood years in New Mexico, and most of my teen years in western and central Kansas.
Where did you go to school?
Kansas State University for my undergrad degree (I bleed purple… go Cats!) and KU Med Center for my masters and DPT degrees.
What has been your journey to leadership?
I’ve been a PT for 33+ years and have been with ARC PT+ for seven years. I started at ARC as the Lead Therapist for our Lenexa clinic, then moved to the position of Clinic Director of our KCK clinic. I recently moved back to be closer to home, and currently serve as Clinic Director in Lenexa once again. I have an advanced certification in Vestibular and Concussion Rehab and serve as a mentor for other ARC clinicians both formally, through our Vestibular Rehab Fellowship Program, and informally, just by being available to answer questions, review cases, and provide guidance as needed.
What skills helped you move into a leadership role?
A willingness to wear many hats: provide patients with excellent care, lead and mentor others (both clinical and non-clinical staff, and student therapists), understand what it takes to run a clinic that is both financially and culturally healthy, be enthusiastic about telling others about what is special about ARC, and be an excellent communicator. I’m also a leader in my church and my community.
How do you help your team live up to our mission of redefining excellence in healthcare?
Modeling and practicing good communication is perhaps the most essential function of being a good ARC leader. Our company is truly redefining excellence in healthcare by providing top-notch communication, along with outstanding care, to ALL our referral sources and patients, including those injured on the job, as well as those who are seeking rehabilitation services through self-referral, direct access, or through their private health insurance.
What is your leadership philosophy?
My leadership philosophy is to be both strategic and authentic. The strategic leader divides their attention between high-level operations and being available to provide support for the team. I try to make or help make measurable and achievable, but sometimes challenging, goals for my team, and effectively communicate those goals, so that we can work together to be successful and achieve the best outcomes for our patients. I also try to lead authentically and with integrity, making decisions that align with my core values of flexibility, compassion, connection, and empathy.
What do you want everyone to know about ARCPT+?
That we truly are redefining excellence in healthcare. We value communication and are especially excellent at treating injured workers and getting them back to work safely and efficiently. But work comp is not all that we do! We have specially certified clinicians in a variety of areas including vestibular rehab, dry needling, pelvic floor PT, orthopedics, neuro and geriatrics.
How do you encourage or motivate your team?
Positive feedback, but honestly, I’m very lucky. My team is already quite motivated, all I really have to do is let them know what is expected, and they will rise to the occasion.
What do you do to help your team have fun?
We have clinic lunches and coffee runs; we observe special calendar days with special food or decorations in the clinic; but most importantly, we encourage each other and celebrate not only the big victories but the little ones as well.
