What has been your journey to leadership?
I joined ARCPT+ in January 2017 as the full time PTA in St. Joseph, MO. There, the Director, Tasha Rodriguez, taught me how to perform POET’s and FCE’s and I was able to increase the STRIVE work conditioning services.
In January 2020, I transferred to the Overland Park clinic as the PTA and STRIVE lead. Soon after I was presented the opportunity to support the Onsite Services team by working at the American Eagle plant in Ottawa, KS.
In 2022, I became one a STRIVE Work Conditioning Coordinator (in addition to being the Overland Park PTA), and in 2023, I became an FCE Coordinator.
When my husband and I started dating in 2020, we knew our end goal was to someday move to Warrensburg, MO. Not wanting to leave my ARCPT+ work family, I began discussions with Overland Park clinic director, Kimberly Sumner, and regional director Tasha Rodriguez, on the possibility of opening a clinic in Sedalia, as well as expressing my interest in the position of Lead Clinician.
In June 2024, the Sedalia clinic opened with me as the Lead Clinician. I am so grateful for my ARCPT+ journey and to serve as the first PTA Lead Clinician.
What skills helped you move into a leadership role?
I am very outgoing. I have been told before that I can have a conversation with a wall.
I am willing to help other clinics by traveling for coverage or training new hires or other clinicians in the services that we provide. I also enjoy training and working with PTA students.
I am a well-rounded clinician in all services provided by ARCPT+, including onsite, patient care, POET/FFD testing, drug testing, FCE’s, and more. I am driven to always be a better clinician, learning all that I can while providing the best clinic and clinician support. My organizational skills have enabled me to handle multiple responsibilities efficiently.
I love my job and company.
How do you help your team live up to our mission of redefining excellence in healthcare?
Encouraging great customer service with a positive attitude and outgoing personality to our patients and referral sources.
What is your leadership philosophy?
Creating a positive and happy space for patients and employees to come to therapy to improve physically but also ENJOY their time and the people they are working with.
What you want everyone to know about ARCPT+?
ARCPT+ not only has great therapists but they have great PEOPLE. We strive at being a change in the marketplace by participating in great CEU courses, CHT fellowship programs and trainings in many services. We provide other services besides PT/OT including, STRIVE work conditioning, FCE’s and onsite services.
ARCPT+ is family. They are my friends at work and outside of work. They have been in my wedding. They have been my support when starting my family. They go out of their way to support anyone going through loss or difficult times. We go to sporting events together. We go to bookstores, book signings and book conferences together. We go to wineries and breweries together. We enjoy our time TOGETHER.
How do you encourage or motivate your team?
My team is easy to motivate, as they are competitive. They are pushing themselves to better the clinic and company as a whole. When there are competitions or ways to participate in fun activities in the company, then we participate.
What do you do to help your team have fun?
We participate in the fun activities the company puts on: Halloween competition, dressing up to support our Chiefs for the Superbowl or dressing up for the Olympics. We get lunch during clinic meetings. We celebrate each others’ birthdays by decorating their desks and getting them lunch of their choosing.
