Patrick Hansen

What is your role at ARC Physical Therapy+?

I am the Manhattan lead therapist and full-time physical therapist.

Where are you from?

I was born in Illinois and grew up in the northern Wisconsin/Minnesota regions.

Where did you go to school?

I did my undergraduate studies at the University of Minnesota Duluth and earned my Master’s of Physical Therapy at the University of Wisconsin Lacrosse.

What has been your journey to leadership?

I started at ARCPT+ about 2 months after the Manhattan Clinic opened in 2021, and was the only full-time clinician. I gradually increased the caseload in Manhattan working with my supervisors, and a couple admins, on clinic work and marketing. I was promoted to clinic lead in 2023 and have been in this position since.

What skills helped you move into a leadership role?

Understanding the different ways people communicate with others, bringing good energy to the clinic every day, organizational skills to maintain an efficient clinic, being empathetic to family issues to help balance life with work, a desire for the clinic and company to be successful.

Patrick Hansen familyHow do you help your team live up to our mission of redefining excellence in healthcare?

The Manhattan clinic is involved in the McKenzie study group, helping clinicians improve their assessment and treatment skills.

What is your leadership philosophy?

Excellent communication! This is so key to everyone working together. This includes the director, clinicians, patient representatives, the patients, and the providers who send referrals.

What is the one thing you wish everyone knew about ARC PT+?

Our outcome data shows we get injured workers back to work faster than other rehab companies.

How do you encourage or motivate your team?

Leading by example.  Doing the work, helping out, showing a willingness to take the load off of others so they can provide good patient care and still go home without high levels of stress.

What do you do to help your team have fun?

We enjoy our takeout meals and snacks together. Having a good sense of humor about my weaknesses and imperfections always provides a laugh! We also have our daily Wordle competition to lighten up the mood and take jabs at each other.
