What is your name?
Melissa Brown
What is your role at ARC Physical Therapy+?
Lead PT at Rogersville ARC Physical Therapy+ clinic.
Where are you from?
I was born in Scottsdale, AZ but have lived the majority of my life in Springfield, MO and still do.
Where did you go to school?
I have went to Evangel Univerisity for my undergraduate degree in Biology and Southwest Baptist University for my Doctorate of Physical Therapy degree.
What has been your journey to leadership?
I started as staff PT at Rogersville and then became Lead in December of 2023.
What skills helped you move into a leadership role?
Asking too many questions on who is going to get things done and when. This led to…”why don’t you do it?” Haha.
How do you help your team live up to our mission of redefining excellence in healthcare?
Communication is important to me. I try to foster open and honest communication on the day-to-day schedule, patient care, positive reinforcements and struggles so we are all on the same page and can work as a team through the good and the hard.
What is your leadership philosophy?
- To be a servant leader and not ask any of my staff to do anything I haven’t done or wouldn’t be willing to do first.
- To empower my staff to take ownership of their position and the clinic so that they will take pride in their work.
- To give credit and praise where it is due so that each person feels seen and appreciated.
What you want everyone at ARCPT+ to know?
We run on coffee or tea and good attitudes at Rogersville!
How do you encourage or motivate your team?
Making achievable goals we can all work together toward. Listening and implementing others ideas. Treats never hurt!
What do you do to help your team have fun?
Participate in clinic contests and fun days. Make room for sharing funny stories that happen outside of work with family or friends.
