Staff Spotlight: Julie Myers

What is your name?

Julie Myers

What is your role at ARC Physical Therapy+?

Business Development Liaison for SW MO and NW AR

What year did you begin working at ARC Physical Therapy+?

Where are you from?

I’m from Lee’s Summit, MO and currently live in Springfield, MO.

Where did you go to school?

Missouri State University

Who or what inspired you to get into physical therapy?

I’ve been in Business Development for healthcare for several years. I was excited to find an opportunity where I could help patients improve their quality of life and continue working after injury. I’ve spent most of my career in senior care. From that experience, I’ve learned the importance of mobility on overall health. It’s hard to speak with anyone over a certain age that doesn’t have a need for PT, whether it’s from wear and tear, chronic issues, or injury. It’s all about improving quality of life!

What do you like most about your work at ARC Physical Therapy+?

Everyone is very approachable, helpful and kind. ARC has a great teamwork approach.

What is one thing you wish everyone knew about the body or physical therapy?

The body changes over a lifetime, but if you are dedicated to maintaining your physical activity, you can overcome or at least manage problems and/or pain.

Are you involved with any outside organizations?

I try to participate in the Alzheimer’s walk each year. I also try to actively participate in fundraisers for The Alzheimer’s Association, the American Heart Association, Breast Cancer Foundation of the Ozarks, and St. Jude’s.

What do you like to do in your free time?

I enjoy walking the many trails around Springfield. Cooking for family and friends. Fitness. Reading. Playing with my grandsons.

How do you like to celebrate a win or a good day?

Usually with people who helped me have or attain that good day. Dinner/socializing.

What is your favorite quote?

“The only way to keep your health is to eat what you don’t want, drink what you don’t like, and do what you’d rather not.” ~ Mark Twain

“Keep your face always toward the sunshine, and shadows will fall behind you.” ~ Walt Whitman

Sweet or salty?

Both, together.

Beach or mountains?

Beach, but mountains certainly have their place.

Go out or stay in?

Out – I am social.

What is your best joke?

I am awful at telling jokes! Where should you go in the room if you’re feeling cold? The corner – they are usually 90 degrees.

What inspires you?

Nature, my kids, my grandbabies, my friends.
