Work Comp Patient: “This has truly been life changing”

We recently had a workers’ compensation patient in our Shawnee clinic. She was referred by her employer to complete the S.T.R.I.V.E. (Strength Training and Rehabilitation for Increased Vocational Effectiveness) Work Conditioning Program.

She completed the program with flying colors, got back to work, and left a note for our team (that she said we were welcome to share):

“I truly love waking up and strengthening my body mentally, physically, and emotionally with Shane and Mindi. They have listened, challenged, and encouraged me to be my best – good days and rough days! Shane truly knows his tools in the room and can release anything not right or too tight.

Mindi saved my upper shoulder muscles on both sides. It was literally chronic pain every day. I loved the Rapid Release to get suspect areas, small and large. Walking outside helps the mood and breaks up the routine.

They both are kind, understanding, and intuitive. They take their jobs and our lives seriously. I will refer them to all my coworkers and people I know who truly care to change their lives for the better.

I truly feel changed for the better overall. I could barely walk when I came in and some days, okay most days, I couldn’t remember daily life choices and decisions. Daily care was different and difficult. They truly motivated me with hope, faith, and the tools I need to strive and succeed in life for overall health.

I enjoy the number of days I could have and increasing the hours with time and ability.

This has truly been life changing. I will never be able to repay what they did for me. But I know how to pay it forward. I wouldn’t change a thing!”

We collaborate with employers and patients to develop a functional return to work program that encompasses all the components of the job, and often has benefits for your team outside of work. The result is a restriction free return to work and dramatically improved long-term outcomes with fewer reported repeat injuries over time.
