Who or what inspired you to get into the physical therapy space?

My dad had an injury when I was a senior in high school and I took him to his physical therapy appointments. He actually went to the ARC in NKC! He was not walking properly and I told him what I thought he should be doing. My dad said “I do it this way all the time.” When the therapist came back from helping another patient he told my dad the exact same thing I had said! I knew at that moment this was the job for me!

What do you like most about your work in the physical therapy space?

It is so rewarding seeing people get the pain relief they desire, that is why I do what I do.

What is one thing you wish everyone knew about the body or physical therapy?

That our days don’t always stop when we clock out and leave for the day. We continue to think about our patients and research how to best help them outside of the clinic!

Are you involved with any outside organizations? If so, what?

None

What do you like to do in your free time?

Free time? What’s that? I take care of 3 boys and rarely spend time away that doesn’t involve them. I work out after they’ve gone to bed. That’s pretty much my “me time” activity! Real life image right here!

How do you like to celebrate a win or a good day?

Thanking the Lord above!

What is your favorite quote or saying?

“If it doesn’t challenge you, it won’t change you!”

Favorite Sports Team?

Anything Kansas City!

Sweet or salty?

Sweet

Coffee or tea?

Coffee

Beach or mountains?

Ooooh that is tough! How about beach side with a mountain in the distance!

Go out or stay in?

Stay in!

What is your best joke?

Knock, knock…who’s there?…boo…boo who?….don’t cry!

What patients/diagnoses are you most excited about treating?

I love treating all patients. I have been told I work well with the older adults with balance deficits.

Can you share a patient success story?  Is there a patient you worked with that made a significant impact on you as a therapist/leader?

Patients that want to continue communicating after they are done with therapy make me feel like I did something right. The personal interaction and investment I put into each patient I work with matters to them. Knowing they enjoyed their time enough to keep in contact afterwards is rewarding.

What inspires you?

The stories, the trials and tribulations people go through remind me to be grateful for the good and the bad, to keep pushing through no matter what.
