Staff Spotlight: Becca Ferguson

What is your name?

Rebecca Ferguson, but I go by Becca

What is your role at ARC Physical Therapy+?

Physical Therapist

Where are you from?

I am from Olathe, Kansas and went to DeSoto High School. Now I live in Lenexa, Kansas.

Where did you go to school?

I went to college at Washburn University in Topeka and played volleyball there for two years before joining a sorority for my final two years.

I went straight to physical therapy school after my undergraduate was complete. I did my PT school at University of Kansas Medical Center and graduated with my Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2019.

I worked for ARC Physical Therapy+ right after graduation, then moved to Richmond, VA in January of 2020 to pursue a professional opportunity for my husband.

We moved back to KC in November 2021, and now I am so glad to back with my ARC family.

Who or what inspired you to get into the physical therapy space?

I have wanted to be a physical therapist since I was 16 years old. This job has always been the perfect mix of my sports background with my desire to help people.

What do you like most about your work in the physical therapy space?

My favorite part about my job is getting to know my patients. I enjoy learning about their lives, where they grew up, and how they like to spend their time. I always say that my patients have the best stories!

What is one thing you wish everyone knew about the body or physical therapy?

I wish that everyone knew that physical therapy has benefits beyond treating those that are injured or in pain.

Physical therapy could be very beneficial in a preventative manner and help to stop most injuries before they happen.

Are you involved with any outside organizations?

I am involved with the Greater Kansas City Alpha Phi Alumnae group, and I help to plan their annual benefit to support women’s heart health, it is called KC Art 4 HeArt. This year’s event is on May 21st, you can find us on Facebook and Instagram!

What do you like to do in your free time?

I love playing with my daughter, Charlotte. She was born on my birthday (what a surprise that was!) and is almost a year old.

Favorite Sports Team?

Chiefs! But I am also a big fan of Sporting KC.

Sweet or salty?

I really wish my sweet tooth wasn’t as strong as it is!

Coffee or tea?

Coffee

Beach or mountains?

Mountains. I grew up only traveling to National Parks with my family. We took one trip to Florida and we didn’t have nearly as much fun as our other vacations.

My favorite National Park is Glacier in Montana.

Go out or stay in?

Stay in and enjoy my family.
