What year did you begin working at ARC Physical Therapy+?

2020

Where are you from?

Lincoln, Nebraska- GBR

Where did you go to school?

I went to the University of Nebraska at Omaha and received a Bachelor’s of Science, majoring in Biology. Then I attended the University of Nebraska Medical Center for my Doctorate of Physical Therapy. I was part of the first PT class at the new satellite campus in Kearney, Nebraska.

Who or what inspired you to get into the physical therapy space?

Growing up, my mom was a Nurse and I saw how rewarding her career in healthcare had been. I knew in college that I had a desire to work in health care and my father-in-law, who was a PT, introduced me to the profession. I started working in clinics as a physical therapist tech and loved getting to know people and helping them recover at the same time.

What do you like most about your work at ARC Physical Therapy+?

I like that I work for a company that is focused on the best patient outcomes, rather than the bottom line. Even though I may be the only PT in a smaller clinic setting, I am still connected with other clinicians. I feel like I always have someone to connect with, whether we are discussing a challenging diagnosis, brainstorming treatment options or managing the clinic. ARCPT+ has a great community of providers!

What is one thing you wish everyone knew about the body or physical therapy?

Physical Therapists typically have Doctorate degrees. We are trained as movement specialists with advanced understanding of the musculoskeletal system, with a focus on rehabilitation and recovery for a variety injuries or traumas. We work cooperatively with a variety of healthcare professionals to provide optimal care for each patient.

What do you like to do in your free time?

Depends on the day! Sometimes watching tv, running, weight lifting, and other days drawing (usually vintage muscle cars). Lately I have been watching The Flight Attendant and The Last Man on Earth.

How do you like to celebrate a win or a good day?

Hanging out with friends and family is the best way! Sometimes I prefer to cook a big meal, have a drink and watch a show. I enjoy all kinds of beer but prefer stouts and ales.

What is your favorite quote or saying?

I enjoy Malcom Gladwell. He has written some great books with endless quotes and comments that spark great thought and consideration.
