What is your name?
Kathy Bukaty
What is your role at ARC Physical Therapy+?
I am a Certified Hand Therapist in the Olathe Clinic.
What year did you begin working at ARC Physical Therapy+?
August 2017
Where are you from?
I grew up on Long Island, but I have been here since I was in my 20’s, so I consider myself a Kansan with NY roots.
What do you like most about your work at ARC Physical Therapy+?
Even with the same diagnoses, every patient is different. I enjoy finding the things that motivate my patients and helping them achieve their goals. It makes me happy to hear that a patient has resumed an activity that is important to them. We get to meet so many people with so many different jobs. I find it a fun challenge to find ways to simulate work tasks so we can gear our treatment program to the specific job duties of each patient.
What is one thing you wish everyone knew about the body or physical therapy?
If you don’t do your home exercises, you will be coming to see me for a longer time. We provide very specific home exercise programs to help you make progress, and as much as I love seeing my patients in clinic, I also love seeing them make progress and discharge from my care.
What do you like to do in your free time?
My husband and I enjoy spending time with our adult kids, and traveling. I like to read and work in the garden. We also have two dogs who are very entertaining.
