Staff Spotlight: Liz Boyd

What is your name?

Liz Boyd

What is your role at ARC Physical Therapy+?

Administrative Assistant to the Overland Park/Des Moines/Ankeny clinics.

What year did you begin working at ARC Physical Therapy+?

2010

Where are you from?

Kansas City, MO born and raised!

Who or what inspired you to get into the physical therapy space?

My sister was attending PT back in 2006 and the company she was being treated at was hiring (ARCPT!). My sister had been in PT a couple of times before and the concept of PT was very interesting to me, watching her progress and get better helped to make it all make sense. Crazy that I’ve been doing this for almost 15 years!

What do you like most about your work at ARC Physical Therapy+?

Getting to know our patients. I call it the Cheers method – “you wanna go where everybody knows your name” and I make sure that I know each patients name from day one! It’s amazing to see the change in patients, not only physically, but mentally. I also love watching patients become like family and leave with a smile.

What is one thing you wish everyone knew about the body or physical therapy?

Everyone heals differently. Our bodies are absolutely amazing, but the timeline isn’t always the same for everyone. Relax, slow down and appreciate the process– Rome wasn’t built in a day and neither were you 🙂

Liz Boyd fishWhat do you like to do in your free time?

I love to go fishing! My boyfriend, Josh, and I enjoy going to James A Reed and fishing for catfish. Nothing’s more exciting than actually snagging a fish, especially when it’s a decent sized one!

How do you like to celebrate a win or a good day?

With a glass of red wine – the drier the better!!

What is your favorite quote or saying?

“Zora Neale Hurston said ‘Fear is the greatest emotion’ and I said ‘No my dear sister.’ Fear will make us move to save our own skins. Love also makes us save ourselves, but it will make us move to save others as well.” – Sonia Sanchez

Favorite Sports Team?

Kansas City Chiefs, Cincinnati Bengals and KU

Liz Boyd friendSweet or salty?

Both!

Coffee or tea?

Again, both.

Beach or mountains?

Beach, always.

Go out or stay in?

Stay in.

What inspires you?

My Mother, she’s a saint. She has shown me, time and time again, to keep going no matter the circumstances.  She is such a strong woman and is the glue that holds our family together. Without her, I’m 100% positive I would be lost. I hope that one day I will be half the mother she has been to me and my sister.
