Who or what inspired you to get into the physical therapy space?

I was involved in sports in high school and wanted to do something that kept me connected to an athlete population. I also really enjoyed learning about anatomy and physiology. Physical therapy is a perfect blend of those 2 things.

What do you like most about your work at ARC Physical Therapy+?

I enjoy working at ARC Physical Therapy+ because of the mission of the company.  Our Mission is to be a Catalyst of Change in the Marketplace by Redefining Excellence in Healthcare. On a daily basis, this company strives to live out its Mission by focusing on getting great outcomes for our patients and setting the bar high for all of healthcare to meet the standards that we have set. ARCPT+ also works to foster a positive, fun and engaging work environment for the employees which helps set all of us up for success in meeting the mission.

What is one thing you wish everyone knew about the body or physical therapy?

There are 2 main things that I wish people knew:

1- Pain is a normal life experience and is not something that we should be afraid of.

2- Physical therapy is not a passive experience for the patient. The more you put in to it, the more you get out of it. A vast majority of the time, recovering from an injury is not about what I as the Physical Therapist does to you, it is about me educating you and providing the tools or means for you to treat yourself.

Are you involved with any outside organizations? If so, what?

I am involved in my local church-Our Savior Lutheran Church in Platte City and currently serve as the Chair of the Finance Committee and am also on the Church Action Board. I also help out with my son’s Cub Scout Pack.

Rich Kidwell with WifeWhat do you like to do in your free time?

I enjoy doing anything outside: boating, fishing, going for walks, riding a bike. Family time is very important to me and love spending as much time as possible with my wife (Abby) and kids (Ben and Claire).

How do you like to celebrate a win or a good day?

Going out for a nice dinner with family or friends.

What is your favorite quote or saying?

“If you got time to lean, you got time to clean.” -My Dad

“If if’s and but’s were candy and nuts-we’d all have a Merry Christmas.”

Favorite Sports Team?

K-State Wildcats

Kansas City Chiefs and Royals

Sweet or salty?

Salty for sure

Coffee or tea?

Coffee-Strong and Black, and a lot of it.

Beach or mountains?

I love both, but the beach can get a little too hot, so I’ll go with mountains.

Go out or stay in?

Stay in. If you’re going to make me go out, make sure there aren’t large noisy crowds please. And definitely no long lines.
