What is your position at ARC Physical Therapy+?
Director – South Kansas City
OT Fellowship Coordinator
How long have you been a Certified Hand Therapist/Occupational Therapist?
10 Years
What clinic do you treat out of?
South Kansas City
What got you interested in being an Occupational Therapist in the first place?
The mechanical nature of the body and similarity between orthopedic healing and engineering.
Why do you love being an Occupational Therapist?
Seeing first-hand the progress made by my patients and my constant interaction with people. I really enjoy seeing the reaction of people as they regain ability to do what they love.
What makes you unique as an Occupational Therapist?
I have a lot of experience treating shoulders despite title of “hand therapist/CHT”. I originally declared to MU as an engineer, so my approach is very biomechanical.
What is something you wish people knew about Occupational Therapy or hand therapy?
Occupational Therapy has nothing to do with getting you a job and hand therapy involves management of the wrist, elbow, and shoulder in addition to the hand. The hand is biomechanically very complex and requires the right person providing care to understand the underlying anatomy!
What is a fun fact about you?
I’m a first time dad very recently in February of 2019.
