The ARC Physical Therapy+ Olathe clinic opened on January 11, 2010. For more than four years, ARC Physical Therapy+ Clinic Director, Scott Peters, and his staff have been treating patients wtih a variety of orthopedic conditions at the clinic.
In honor of National Physical Therapy Month this October, we went behind the scenes with Scott to learn a little bit more about his staff and what life is really like at their clinic. Here’s what he had to say:
1. What does a typical work week look like at your clinic?
Our clinic is comprised of a very hardworking staff. We see a variety of patients, including those with workers’ compensation injuries, high school athletes and the “weekend warrior.” Injuries range from immediate to post-operative status to general overuse.
2. How does your staff approach patient care?
We work hard to ensure that our patients feel comfortable from the moment they step foot in the clinic up until the end of treatment. Our goal is to create a caring, fun environment. We take time to educate our patients about their injury, the healing process and the important role they play in their own recovery and rehabilitation.
3. How do you “wow” your patients?
We make it a point to go above and beyond by doing all of the little things for our patients. This involves creating an environment that is safe, helpful and educational but also one that makes the patient better.
4. What was the proudest moment for your clinic as a whole?
Each winter, ARC Physical Therapy+ hosts the ARCademy Awards holiday party, which recognizes associates for their oustanding achievements. The year we took home the ARCademy Award for Best Clinic, Newcomer of the Year and Administrative Assistant of the Year was a highlighting moment for us. It was really exciting to see such a hardworking crew recognized for their work and it proved just how well we work together as a team.
5. What is the greatest challenge you face as workers’ compensation specialists and how do you overcome that?
At times, patients can come in with a guard up and are skeptical of therapy because it may have taken them some time to get treatment for their injury. We have to quickly earn their trust, prove that we are an expert and there to help them. Earning a patient’s trust is a part of being a workers’ compensation expert and it allows us to achieve better outcomes with a vast majority of our patients. Our group does an unbelievable job with this aspect of care.
6. What do you want people to know about your clinic?
We are extremely hard working and passionate about the work we do day in and day out. We love to get to know our patients by finding out more about them while working to improve their quality of life.
